Ancient Mediterranean Medicine:
A New Dialogue with
Modern Life

A humanistic approach to  Traditional Mediterranean Medicine, with a special focus on humours, temperaments and constitutional balance

A HUMANISTIC PERSPECTIVE

Where Mediterranean History, Medicinal Plants and Personal Wellbeing Meet

I am Alessandra Marazzi, a historian of religions and a scholar of ancient Mediterranean medicine.

I explore Traditional Mediterranean Medicine as a historical, cultural and philosophical tradition: a way of understanding the relationship between human beings, nature, temperament and the art of living well.

Through Anima Herbaria, I bring this ancient knowledge into dialogue with contemporary life, offering a different perspective from which to understand ourselves and our personal wellbeing.

Have You Ever Felt This Way?

Nothing seems to be truly wrong, and yet you do not feel fully in balance.

You notice that certain physical, emotional or behavioural patterns return again and again, and you would like to understand what they reveal about you.

You want to know yourself more deeply, beyond isolated symptoms, labels and general advice.

You are drawn to ancient knowledge and medicinal plants, but you are looking for a thoughtful and historically grounded approach rather than vague spirituality.

If these words resonate with you, Anima Herbaria offers a different perspective from which to begin.

A PERSONAL OR PROFESSIONAL PATH

Consultations

Discover two different paths through Traditional Mediterranean Medicine.

Individual consultations help you understand your temperament and acquire tools for observing yourself with greater awareness.

Professional and corporate consultations introduce the historical foundations of physiognomy and temperaments as a humanistic framework for observation, communication and workplace relationships.

A SHARED MEDITERRANEAN EXPERIENCE

Workshops

Together, we begin to create a shared understanding of our Mediterranean roots.

Through readings, walks, the preparation of traditional herbal products and the study of ancient practices, we explore the relationship between medicinal plants, history, mythology, religion and everyday life.

Some experiences are practical and sensory; others are historical and ethnobotanical. Each offers more than knowledge: a new way of observing plants and understanding their place in our history and our lives.

Hi, I’m Alessandra

I study ancient Mediterranean medicine to understand the past and bring its knowledge into dialogue with the present.

I’m a historian of religions, and my work brings together ancient medical thought, humours and temperaments, physiognomy, medicinal plants, mythology and traditional practices.

For me, these are not isolated subjects, but interconnected elements of a humanistic approach to understanding the relationship between human beings, nature and the art of living well.

Through consultations, workshops and shared experiences, I offer tools that help us observe ourselves and the world around us with fresh eyes.
